It's for diagnostics for an ASIC under development. Then the code will be used for bringup and manufacturing test. I've done all this before but I need to brush up on PCI-Express. I have a book somewhere. I'm not keen about the commute but maybe I can take the Caltrain.
It's been perfect weather here. All my friends in Washington and Oregon are suffering mightily with temps over 100 degrees. Don is off on a 2 day motorcycle trip with the neighbor. Actually Bill is on a real motorcycle while Don got himself a Burgman scooter. It's more comfortable for him than the BMW K he also has.
Anyway, I need to check the bees today. There could be honey. Extracting honey actually resembles work, particularly the pre clean up and the post clean up, but my friend will help if necessary.
I got a call from a company recruiter who found I was looking through my LinkedIn profile. I sent off my resume which I though matched the requirements almost exactly. I haven't heard back, though.
Tyler, the new cat is still fighting with my 2 other cats at times. He's starting to go outside now. So there will be 2 neighbor former Toms for him to fight with outside.
I had better get to work. There are a hundred other things on my todo list besides the bees. One of them is a Ruby On Rails - MySQL project to organize my todo list and projects.

I really lucked out and very nice weather during most of my 8 days in NY,NJ and PA. It's been sunny but not hot.
Yesterday I took the bus from Hackensack into NYC and rode the subways up to the bronx and went to the NY Botanical Garden. I took a lot of pictures but I can't transfer them to a computer until I get home.
I had minor subway adventures. Took a train that went the wrong direction, ended up getting out of the subway and had to plead with a cop to let me back in for free. I also saw a rat on the platform.
The theme of the gardens was Edible Gardening. I saw a lot of stuff I already have. My tomato plants looked better than theirs, but they had weeks of solid rain right before I got there.

It's spectacular! We did one full day today. The north part. We saw many fumaroles and waterfalls. A few elk and bison. One bunny, one deer. Maybe those big brown things in the water were moose, it was a little hard to tell. No bears yet.
I have not been operating my camera properly so many pictures are overexposed. Hopefully Picassa can fix most of them.
Old Faithful tomorrow. And we got a room at the Canyon Lodge inside the park for tomorrow night.
Why is my hard drive making noise? I just replaced it.

- 09:01 I'm trying to leave for Corvallis but I have so much to do. Mostly garden related but I have a big honey mess to clean up, too. #
- 08:16 Off to the #MakerFaire today I'll be working the Master Composter booth from 10-2 #

I came back from SW Washington with an unauthorized dog. Jody had so many chihuahuas so I took one. I didn't take my favorite, Evie, because she's one of Jody's 5 favorites, too. I took Tiny Tim, a 6 month old. We bonded there for a couple of days and he's been with me ever since.
That's the main problem. He only likes me. He doesn't like Don. He sort of chases the cats. Not too bad, but they are a little stressed about it. Keiko, the little cat is bigger than him but she's only swiped at him once.
He really, really wants to be with me, all the time.
I think I am going to pass him on to another owner. It would be good if I could get Jody some money for him, but I would probably give him away. I could also take him back to Jody in June but she really has too many.
For the right person, (one he can bond to) he's a super dog. He's mostly house broken and sometimes comes when called. He likes to be on my lap and sleep in the bed. He also has amusing periods where he runs around the house at top speed, but that only lasts a few minutes.
I do have a lead on someone who has 1 chi and needs another to keep her company.
- 21:52 I'm at my brother's house in Tukwila, WA. Tomorrow I see a college friend I haven't seen for 20 years. Didn't get a chihuahua, yet. #
Waiting for everyone to get up

I'm at Marjie's house. I don't even see the Boston Terriers, Walter and Eddie.
I'm even showered and ready to go. I got a tayberry for Marjie at One Green World that we need to plant. I also got so many other plants, including a couple of bushes that getting stuff into my car is going to be a challenge. Luckily I'm dropping off some stuff at Jody's.
I got a message on my cellphone from a colleague at my old company. I couldn't quite make it out, though. It might be that they want me back. There were no messages on my home phone about it, though. I am not coming back early for them, though. I'm not planning on driving back until Monday May 5th. I called him back and emailed him but I haven't heard back from him, either.
Today's plans: breakfast with Marjie's friends that I may have met 20 years ago. Go to the beekeeping supply store in Portland. Go to Sheila's rental house on Sauvie Island. Go to Marilynn's party on her houseboat.

Elaine and I are going for a bike ride. About 10 miles, mostly flat. A lot of it will be on bike trails with no cars, but we will have to go through the Oregon State University campus.
When we get back I will pot up the rest of Elaine's tomatoes. Maybe we will get some other plants, too.
Then knitting group. I've been several times when I've been here, so I know most of the people.
Next a stop at Nichols Garden nursery in Albany. Maybe they will have a tea plant. They give me a 10% discount for being a Master Gardener.
Last stop today will be Bruce and Mary's farm near Grand Ronde. They just moved there last year so I haven't seen it yet.
Tomorrow will be Christi's place in Lake Oswego.

I finally upgraded the memory from 512K to 2 Gig. Weeeeeeee! It is faster and I suspect I will be able to have Firefox open with 15 tabs and not have it bog down so much.
I got the memory from Ebay.
Played in the garden today. The planter boxes on the deck, anyway. 8 tomato seedlings from the newspaper cartons were big enough to transplant into their own 4" pots. Also put some lettuce into its final planter box. I have enough lettuce to have salad every night. So I should start doing that. I should also take pictures.
The tarragon overwintered just fine and is coming back.
I planted 5 pepper plants that I got at the master gardener's sale. I still have about 10 more combined peppers and tomatoes to deal with. Plus some chamomile, a luffa and some tyme to put out in the front yard.
The new bees seem to be doing fine.
I set up an empty beehive at the neighbors. It's not completely empty. It has some frames with a little bit of honey in them. That is enough to attract a swarm.
I'm starting to plan my trip to Oregon and Washington. I'm leaving Sunday April 19th and getting back 2 weeks later. I plan to be in the Corvallis/Grand Ronde/Portland/Vancouver/Battleground area the first part and up in Seattle for about 3 days in the middle of the second week. Then back to Jody's in Battleground, then Corvallis. Redwood City to Corvallis is usually 10.5 hours so I can do it in one day.
We are off to dinner with a friend in SF. He was the student of Don's best friend in Corvallis.
Still no job but I haven't really been trying. I feel like I have at least 3 different opportunities I could turn into a job or career. I just need to be a little more web programming savvy. I do have the Ruby on Rails Bible. I have it all installed and have done the first equivalent of "Hello World". However the second program is not working at all.
